2026 - Seattle (Jake is in Another Play!)

Jacob was asked to audition for another play - this one an original first run, called "Li" - after one of the producers saw him in the Laramie Project.  He got the part, and we took my mom to go see him in it (unfortunately Sian could not make it since she is trying to minimize travel during her last few months of pregnancy).

Barry & I flew out first so that we could get together with Sandy & John for dinner.  I'm feeling very behind on a lot of things, so it was nice to have a day at the hotel to catch up a bit.  We were able to have lunch with Jake & Dia that day as well.  We picked up sandwiches from Fortuna, a small Italian deli near their place...they give you a bread sample while you wait...OMG!  So good!!!!!

Later that day we drove down to Redmond where met John & Sandy at a cool little Japanese Izakaya place called Supa Banana.  On our way down, Barry captured a photo of these protestors as well as this sign about "ice"...!

Always fun to catch up with these guys...this time we learned about cordless water-picks, which Barry & I intend to get next time at Costco! 😂

After dinner we picked up Bryan and my mom from the airport (mom insisted she fly on her own from John Wayne Airport...not bad for a 91 year old!). The next day the four of us visited Pike Place Market, and of course we had to stop at Mee Sum...my mom could not help herself...kinda over-did it with the pastries, and we also had 2 big bowls of chowder!!

There are five Thomas Danbo Trolls in Seattle.  We stopped to see two of them, one in West Seattle, which is located in a beautiful park along the ocean...the other greets guests at the Nordic Museum - a place we have not visited...putting it on our to-do list!

We had a little bit of time to kill before dinner that night, so we just hung out a bit at Jake & Dia's place.  Dia copy edit's a magazine that her friend self publishes, called "Tittle".  Barry & Bryan enjoyed reading it!

We met Hannah & Kaleb for dinner at a great Italian restaurant that Dia found in Queen Anne - Cornelly's.  We always love catching up with these two!

We had been so lucky with the weather so far, but on Saturday it started raining. 😕  ...at least Jake could finally join us for dim sum at Diamond Bay, and a visit to the Aquarium!

After the Aquarium, we rested a bit before dinner at Flint Creek Cattle Co...during this time, my mom had to "teach" Barry how to do PT! 😏...oh brother!

What a treat to be able to see Jacob in two plays live within the past 6 months!  Who would have known he would take an interest in theater/acting!?  We don't know if this is a serious career pursuit, or just a great creative outlet...regardless, we are very impressed!

It appears he had fun with his cast-mates & crew!  Kudos to all of them!

He made his Lao proud, but the ENTIRE weekend, all she could think about was how skinny her little Jacob had gotten...maybe that will be me with my grandkids someday! 😲
