2025 - Fall Trip "Part 2" (Hawaii...again...but this time a wedding!)

ALOHA & Deja Vu...we were back in Hawaii having been away for a short 8 months!  This time we celebrate the nuptials of Cousin Kathy (daughter of the infamous Mike Lau and beautiful Lori Lau)!  Barry & I left from our stay in CA to stay with Cousin Myra for a bit before gathering with Lau side for celebrations.

I immediately set about cooking soup for Myra who caught a nasty cold on her trip to China, which helped me clean out more of her fridge & freezer!  We did enjoy a few meals out though...this one to Han Gang Korean BBQ was particularly special!

We spent a day helping her hang and re-arrange some of her artwork, and I organized her purse area (where I found $92 in cash, a ring, and other odds & ends!).  We also took Myra to a craft fair at the Blaisdell Event Center where we looked up Keith's friend Cheryl who has a booth there every year.

Joanne & Bella picked me up at Myra's and took me to brunch at Koko Head Cafe 😋

We got together with Jimbo & Malia for dinner at Moku's 👍

Barry & I just finished watching Chief of War on AppleTV, so we wanted to visit the Bishop Museum again.  It had been YEARS since we went there, and we understand that the Museum was a great help to the producers of the show with history & knowledge.

We spent one morning at a great architectural home tour that Cousin Marissa told us about on our last trip out - the Liljestrand House by Vladimir Ossipoff.  Jackie got tickets for ourselves and she & Lucas - it was our first time meeting Lucas!

The next day we wanted to see Elise's house on the west side of the island.  This is a home she bought to rent out as an Airbnb, and they stay in when they go to Hawaii.  She suggested we go on the 5 mile hike to Kaena Point.  It was a beautiful hike!  We saw Monk Seals and a variety of baby birds that nest in holes in the sand.  After visiting Elise's beautiful home (would totally rent it, even though it is far from the "action" of Waikiki), we ate at a fantastic hole-in-the-wall recommended my Mike & Matt: Hannara!

Jake & Dia arrived later that night, and we hung out at our condo...my arm was twisted and we brought out the ear picking tools! 😳  Poor Tyler!

On the day of the rehearsal dinner we had the morning to spare before Barry & I had to go to the airport to pick up Bryan, Sian & Jennifer (sadly, Jennifer had to fly back to Phoenix to help her mom & sister who are both not well...she stayed 2 nights, and flew right back!).

Brothers reunited in Kung-Fu!

Rehearsal Dinner!

Wedding morning...stretch and then big breakfast!

The wedding was beautiful!

It was held at Sunset Ranch on the North side of the island (see map above).   It was a beautiful venue...we took a lot of photos!!!

Here is one of the cousins and their SO's all in a row by height 😂

Jackie did an amazing job with her speech!

...and we danced the night away...

The kids went to the beach and shave ice the next day while we re-packed for our next leg to New Zealand, then we all got together at Lester & Jennifer's condo for leftovers, and special request ear cleaning for Mike! 😳  It's no wonder he can't hear Lori!

Aloha for now...til next time!  See you in my New Zealand post!
