DAY 47 - 48 (6/19 - 6/20): Tok & Summer Solstice

A short detour off the highway this morning took us to the Wrangell-St. Elias NP Visitor Center.  Fun (and amazing facts)...this is the largest of our national parks.  It is 13.2 million acres, and is the size of Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Switzerland combined!  There are only two roads that access the park, so many visitors access by plane.  We did a short walk there, and while I was in the bathroom Barry spotted a bear crossing right in front of the van!

We have had the most "road work" stops and slow downs along the Glenn Highway.

We are grateful for the work they do so that we can enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way...

As we passed through the town of Glennallen, we saw a Radio Shack!  ...or is it a General Store and they just left the Radio Shack sign up???

Our camp tonight is in Tok, AK (sounds like "stroke").  Made the halibut we bought in Homer 😋

We took our time this morning getting up..same with Luke - we got this "lazy morning" update from Dia 😂

After laundry, we rode our bikes over to "Muk Luk Land".  What a fun and unusual place!  This cute lady is Beth Jacobs, who at 82 years young runs the place.  She & her late husband George opened this place in 1985.  She is now trying to sell it to be able to "retire"...and her current hubby has dementia...she wanted to give me a donation but I refused it, and asked if she would take a photo with dad instead.

Below are some of the unique things you can find at this place (she even lets you play skee ball for prizes - the tickets come out of the machine, old school, and you turn them in for candies)...I scored the 2nd 300+ of the day, so she gave me a Muk Luk pin that I will put on dad!

On the way back to camp we spotted some Sasquatch!

Survived to make dinner...the rest of our Salmon Sister's purchase - SALMON!

GOOD NIGHT!

Miles driven: 247 (Nelchina to Tok)
