2025 - Quick Seattle Trip (Jacob in "The Laramie Project")

Jacob's latest acting class was a theater production of "The Laramie Project", a documentary-style play exploring the aftermath of the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming.  We missed the original production, but luckily they did some encore performances at Re-Act Theater.  We made last-minute plans to go see it, and Bryan & Sian were able to come along as well!

We arrived late Thursday night, and while all of the kids worked, Barry & I drove down to the IKEA in Renton to get window coverings and other odds & ends for Jake & Dia's new place.  We rewarded ourselves to meatball meals - 40% off since IKEA is celebrating their 40th anniversary!

Back at the apartment...curtain installation...

We had dinner at Nirmal's in Pioneer Square, great Indian food, before going to the show!

The play had it's first run at a different theatre.  It is now showing at Re-Act Theatre, I believe it is their first show in their new location.

We were not brave enough to take photos during the show.  Here are snapshots from Dia during the first run:

Jake & Dia stopped by our Airbnb afterwards so that Jake could eat our leftovers and visit with the injured (Bryan's ankle & Dad's shoulder)!

On Saturday we met Dia's mom Julia for lunch at Westward - a cool restaurant right on Lake Union.  I can't believe we forgot to take a photo of us...only photos of food! 😦

Walking around Fremont after full tummies...

After finishing the curtains, we made our way to 19 Gold for dinner (amazing Taiwanese food!).  Bryan, Sian & Dia went to a board game cafe while Barry & I went to Jacob's Saturday evening show.  It was nice to see the play again...we were able to notice and grasp on to much more of the story and acting this time.

So happy to be able to see Jacob enjoying his new hobby (?) - maybe a career change should be in the air...not to sound biased as his parents, but he really is VERY GOOD!
