DAY 4 (5/7/23): Making our way to Nebraska

Lawrence, KS was a quick drive from the farm, and we visited the campus of University of Kansas, where my pal Carole went to grad school.  It was a beautiful campus and great little town.

We were able to find this mural - an ode to Luke's dog sitter, Lawrence ;)

As we drove eastward we realized that we would be driving through Topeka once more, and yesterday we did not get to visit the Evel Knievel Museum, which Barry REALLY WANTED TO SEE ;)  ...one of his childhood heros!  We were going to do a quick stop, but ended up staying for close to 2 hours - it was packed with memorabilia, and we also learned it will be moving to Las Vegas soon, so best see it now before tickets get jacked up in Vegas - LOL!

Welcome to Nebraska!

We drove into Nebraska towards Beatrice.  Our planned stop was at the Homestead National Historical Park.  We really had no idea what to expect.  Ends up this park is dedicated to the education of the Homestead Act of 1862 that lasted until 1986! Free land was given to anyone willing to farm it, which really changed the whole landscape of the US.

Unfortunately we did not get to our 4th night's stay (Museum of American Speed) before they closed, but we spent a quiet night in their enormous parking lot!  Oh, and here are a few cars displayed out front, even though we could not go inside, these were amazing replicas of vehicles from Disney's Cars movie!

GOOD NIGHT!
