DAY 2 (5/5/24): Off to Kansas
It rained all night and we woke up to a bit of a leak from the ceiling vent fan located at the front of Curiosity (luckily it was the front fan and not the one directly on top of where we sleep!). We did a temporary fix later in the day, but first, off to Kansas!
During a break in the rain, Barry was able to get up on the roof to fix the leak (well, at least temporarily - thank goodness for duct tape!).
We stopped in Wichita to see the "Keeper of the Plains" sculpture that is located at the fork of the Arkansas and Little Arkansas Rivers. The sculpture itself is beautiful, and the surrounding information provides tributes and information about the native American culture. We enjoyed the nice walk around the rivers and bridges.
We arrived at Fuller Farms late afternoon. I targeted this farm to stay at since I attended a few sessions on sustainable and regenerative farming at SXSW in March. No, I am not going to make Barry start farming! I simply want to learn more and support these guys. Gail & Lynn have a 160 acre farm raising all sorts of animals with NO CHEMICALS! Unfortunately the rain made it a bit soggy for us, and we were not able to tour the whole farm...would love to come back again someday to do that. We bought many goodies from them, and can't wait to try them!
Today (yes, Cinco de Mayo, and a day after mine) is my brother Larry's birthday - we wished him a happy birthday with some wine that he gifted us for Christmas!
GOOD NIGHT!
