2025 - End of an Era (Sale of PV House)
At the end of my last post (in June) we handed over the keys to the house we grew up in (Rancho Palos Verdes) to Nicole, from Compass Realty for her to prep and sell. Nicole did an amazing job managing all of the upgrades, and we received two offers within a week from putting the house on the market! It's been a lot of back-and-forth communication & coordination, but we are closing escrow at the end of August!

We told mom from the beginning we would be with her to sign the final sale documents (that we could not sign on her behalf), and bring her to the house for one last look.
We made our reservations just the weekend before, and not two days before take-off, my mom got word that the City of Irvine agreed to a "pop-up" exhibit of our dad's work. Larry and I had already been communicating on a daily basis about the house, this new news set off a separate scurry of emails and calls to coordinate how to choose and move 50+ pieces out of storage, to a temporary location.
We arrived on Saturday and immediately went to storage to assess the situation. We ended up re-arranging the entire unit so that all of the pieces were closer to the front of the unit for easy access once we got the list of pieces needed.
The next day we picked up mom and drove her to PV. Here are a series of before & after shots:
We were all happily surprised that mom/Lao was not too sad at all. It is an indication of how happy she is at Regents, phew! 😅 Here is mom with Nicole:
We handed all of our keys and any misc. info. to Nicole one last time, and headed back to OC to conquer mom's latest endeavor (the exhibit)...as much as it drives us crazy, this type of thing keeps her busy and occupied. We are just glad to have the house behind us.
